N*E*R*D

Wednesday August 20th, 2008.

Let's call it the day my life changed forever.

Here's how I put it over at the Pharrell website to them guys.

"Today has been THE most amazing day of my life.

So I'm walking through my town centre grabbing some last minute things for the gig, and my Blackberry starts to ring...

I answer it, it's my boy Taran: "Lee come to the shop I've got some good news!"

So I go to the shop, to find out that I got hooked up with a free wristband to the N*E*R*D instore signing at LiFE.

When I got there, the que was still a good 30 people strong, so we waiting a little bit.

When I finally got in, I was like "Sh!t, what can i get signed?"

So I took off my bapesta and decided to get that signed.

And as I was waiting to go see them, there was a black guy already there talking to them, he was all like "I'm a massive N*E*R*D fan Pharrell"

Then P said to him "What's your favourite album?"

The guy thought that Seeing Sounds was N*E*R*D's first album!

So I laughed my @ss off at this guy, then P said "You come here"

So I went over to the counter where he was and he was like "What's your favourite N*E*R*D song?"

Then I said Run To The Sun, from In Search Of...Track 7 I think.

P looked at the guy, then looked at me, then said to the other guy "This guy is a true N*E*R*D fan"

And i was soo happyy!!!!

Whilst everybody else was just meeting and greeting him, I had a good 15-minute strong chat with P and Shae (Chad missed his flight again!)

Then as we had stop finishing, Shae said "Hey Kid, what did you say your name was again?"

So I told him and he said "Make sure you're there tonight cos you're coming on stage"

I was all like "Thanks so much guys, you've changed my life already"

They was all like "Much appreciated".

You guys ain't heard nuthin' yet....

So I'm there at the gig, Shae recognises me again, and salutes me in the crowd.

About 5 songs later, Lapdance starts, Pharrell jumps down from the stage, comes over to my part of the crowd (I was 2nd row!), and points at me and says "Come on Lee!"

This one girl got real excited cos she thought that P was pointing at her, then I clambered through, was lifted over, and lifted onto the stage!

I rocked the crowd crazy, jumping about, a few people at the front even started swaying their arms side to side in rhythm with me!

At the end of the song, I was taken back off stage, but before I went, Pharrell said on the mic also "See you after the show dude"

So I went back into the crowd at the side, then at the end of the concert Pharrell came over to me and said "Thanks for coming out tonight man, I appreciate it"

Then I asked about the purple passes for the afterparty, and he said that I gotta be a girl who is over 18.

Nonetheless, THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!"

Does this picture just not explain everything?!

R.I.P. ISAAC HAYES

Man, this is the second dope ass nigga to die within a week!
This shit is getting so sad. :(
Isaac Hayes who sung the themetune for "Shaft" in the original movie, and most recentley was the voice of "Chef" in South Park, has died aged 65.
My people, please, go out and live your life to the fullest, don't let any opportunites go, if this is one thing to learn by, it shows that life is just too short, value your life, and don't take anything for granted, I myself have found out that life is too short to not seize everything you can, so don't make the same mistakes as I have.

Here's what CNN news had about the death of Isaac:
(CNN) -- Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.
Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Shular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said. No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement. Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s. He released his first solo album in 1967, and his 1969 follow-up, "Hot Buttered Soul," became a platinum hit. In 1971, the theme from "Shaft" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and won an Academy Award for best original theme song. The song and the movie score also won Grammy awards for best original score and movie theme. Hayes won a third Grammy for pop instrumental performance with the title track to his 1972 "Black Moses" album. From the late 1990s through 2006, Hayes provided the voice of "Chef" for Comedy Central's raunchy animated series "South Park," as well as numerous songs. The role introduced him to a new generation of fans, but he left after the show lampooned his own religion, the Church of Scientology. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. In a CNN interview at the time, Hayes credited his success to "adjusting and constantly evolving, expanding and trying to stay as young as I can." The new generation of popular musicians, he said, "could use a little more substance like we had in the day." "They're standing on our shoulders. Some of them don't realize [it] because they sample me so much," he said. Hayes credited his role on "South Park" with expanding his fan base, and said that he had almost passed on the job. "I started to walk out. I thought it was a Disney thing. I [had] never heard of this thing," he said. But his agent persuaded him to tape some episodes. "Toward the opening I started having trepidations -- 'Oh my god, what have I done? I've ruined my career.' But when it aired, the ratings went through the roof," he said. A 1992 visit to the royal family in Ghana was a life-changing experience for Hayes, he said. "I went back on speaking engagements and encouraged African-Americans to go to Africa [to] interact socially, culturally and/or economically," he said.

R.I.P. BERNIE MAC

Yes, you are reading that correctly, legendary black comedian Bernie Mac has died.
This news came just over a week after he became hospitalized with pneumonia, and it was complications with the virus that took his life, aged just 50.
Bernie had acted in several films including Oceans 11, 12 and 13 films, he also played the part of Bosley in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.
For 5 years (2001 - 2006) Bernie played the part of the no-nonesense father on the self named Bernie Mac Show.
He also earned 2 Emmy nominations for his stand-up comedy act, something which I found hilarious to watch.
Bernie, born as Bernard Jeffrey McCullough, leaves behind a family, a wife of more than 30 years to him.

At times like this, there is not a lot that we can do for his family at these rough times, but my prayers and thoughts are with his family.

The world really has lost a great, great man, comedian, actor and public figure.

Rest In Peace.

INFLUENCE PROFILE: PHARRELL WILLIAMS

Pretty much everyone that knows me, knows that my main idol and celebrity influence in life is Pharrell Williams.
It is hard to explain what makes him such a large influence on me, which sounds almost stupid, but there is so many things, it would be list upon list upon list of all the things that makes him appeal to me as an influence.
I think I may have been 10 or 11 years old when I first heard of Pharrell, an effect of having big sisters probably, but as soon as I saw this multi-talented body-popping producer (it was in Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You" video) I remember thinking to myself "COOL! How does he do that?!...I wanna do that!"
And I guess, that from that, I followed Pharrell's movements and what not's all the time, then In Search Of... came along, then before I knew it, Fly or Die, it was all this Pharrell-ness around me that I think was a large reason why I'm so erm..obsessed with him now, so if any of you don't like me talking about Pharrell so much...blame my sisters =]
Pharrell is so influential to me because he has the versatality to do anything, he doesn't play by the rules, and isn't your average "Hip-Hop producer".
And yes, Pharrell IS Hip-Hop, you wanna know why?
Because...
*WELL, PHARRELL IS HIP HOP BECAUSE HE IS. HE RAPS, WRITES RAPS FOR OTHER PEOPLE AND HE PRODUCES HIP HOP BEATS. PHARRELL IS HIP HOP BECAUSE AT AGE 17 HE WROTE A RAP VERSE ON "RUMP SHAKER" IN '92. PHARRELL IS HIP HOP, A CONSCIOUS LYRICIST ESPECIALLY ON HIS FIRST MIXTAPE, IN MY MIND: THE PREQUEL. DON'T BELIEVE? DOWNLOAD IT PHARRELL IS HIP HOP CAUSE THATS WHAT HE DOES SO IF ANYONE THINKS THAT DRESSING LIKE A SKATER, SKATEBOARDING, OR LIKING ROCK MUSIC ISN'T HIP HOP, YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE CULTURE OR THE MUSIC. YOU ARE PROBABLY NARROW MINDED AND THINK THAT EVERYTHING IS SUPPOSED TO BE A CERTAIN WAY. HIP HOP IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE, YOU CAN DRESS HOW EVER YOU WANT, AND LYRICS ARE VERY IMPORTANT ASK THE HIP HOP HEADS. IT DONT MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU GOT, HOW YOU DRESS, HOW MANY SONGS YOU DO A YEAR, HOW MANY MIXTAPES YOU DO, OR HOW MUCH FAME YOU HAVE OBTAINED. HIP HOP IS HIP HOP. SO I HOPE PEOPLE LEARNED FROM THIS SHIT AND STOP BEING SO IGNORANT AND BLIND TO THE CONCEPTS THEY ARE USED TO. HIP HOP IS DIFFERENT. COME ORIGINAL.

Yeah, I went kinda on a little Pharrell rampage right there, but I mean, everything he does, just seems to interest me, I idolise him so much, that if he did something stupid like say wore trousers that only had one leg, I'd probably do it too, I know it kinda defeats the object of "being original" just like Pharrell is, but he is that big of an influence on me, I'd just do it...if you're not a seriously big die-hard fan like me, you won't understand.

In 2005, Pharrell was named GQ's best dressed man of the year, around that time, i was about 13 or 14, I was just finding my feet, and straight away I tryed to dress like Pharrell, so yeah, you could say that it's a slight obsession!

I bet some of you are wondering why am I just going on about my personal Pharrell feelings, and not actually talking about him, well, this is almost like my little diary to Pharrell haha.

You want to know about him...HERE is his Wikipedia article. =]
